Arrival in Silla University

After 8 hours of flying, we finally arrived in Busan, Korea! We were picked up at the airport by Mr. Choi and reached Silla University without a hassle. The first person we spoke to here is Mr. Choi who is friendly and helpful as well as cute \(^.^)/!! It took approximately 20 minutes to reach Silla U, and boy were we surprised to see the Uni! In our tired state of minds, a glimpse of the campus had us refreshed and excited again!

Fashion Show! ^^

Happy New Year everyone! ^^
In a blink of an eye, 6 months have already passed.
Here's an update on something we have done last year but have not updated. The Fashion Show! ^^

Besides participating in the Buddy Program, we also had to participate in a new program called the multicultural study group. In this program, we have to share our cultures with our group members which are made up of other international students and the Korean students. So one of the topic we had was about traditional dressing and we made it into a Fashion Show. ^^

The audience..^^

Presentation by our Korean friends. The Hanbok.

Presentation by our Cambodian friends. Their traditional clothe is the Sampot.
The girls look like princesses. ^^

Our presentation. Showing them the Baju Melayu... =)

...and all the other traditional clothes in our country. ^^

The catwalk by everyone.

Pose. Walk. Pose. Walk. ^^

And there you go. The traditional clothes from (left to right) Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Korea. ^^

The beautiful ladies. =)

The macho men. haha~

Then it was time to mix and match. A combination of different traditional clothes. Fushion.

A picture with our friends. ^^

A picture of EVERYONE!!!! ^^

The ultimate motivation^^

When the idea of going to the Global Cultural Gathering was being brought up, responses were not good, simply because most of us were worn out by the weekly meetings and cafe's work.

Hmmms and Errrs were heard, until...
Not until Elaine mentioned, actually, it was a food festival.

Now that was really different when food was concerned, especially, food for free!

There was not much of discussion on attendance.
Food itself was already irresistible. Food from 32 different countries was beyond words. Free food from 32 countries-- lets talk no more, just go ahead^^~

Location: Haeunde Naru Park

Before the entrance there was a band playing music~

The entrance~
Our first station was the world's costumes booth as we were fascinated by the exotic outfits.
Check it out!
* The Roman Prince, the Mexican, the Saudi Arabian, the Irish girl, the Russian, and Edward the classic ;)*

Izzat walking on stilts, a Japanese traditional games that we found at the traditional games section.
The Korean see-saw, or nol-dwi-gi 널뛰기
It was very hard to balance. Elaine was screaming while our Cambodian friend
gave a large jerk by stamping hard on his side.
The ajushi, uncle, was trying to put eggs in the folded straw... It looks like this~~
Zoom in view of the eggs in folded straw~
Gasped at the fine art work, and how the ajushi worked under the hot sun.
Elaine and our Cambodian friend, Van.
On the outside these things looked so easy-going and light,
but when being carried, they just gave our friends difficult time.
Check out for Elaine's bended back.
We then moved to the area where booths from 32 different countries concentrated.
"Where is the food?" kept on chorusing while we were walking from booth to booth

The El-Ecuador's booth- Hand-knitted outfits with  wood made musical instruments.

Saw some Korean ladies in Korean traditional customes- hanbok
Stopped by China's booth and Izzat was fascinated by che-ling , a game that requires considerable skills in balancing.
As we proceeded, we surprisingly saw --SAN 2020!
It instantly struck us as WAWASAN 2020!! :)
Turned out to be -- BUSAN 2020 XD~
Most of us stopped by a booth for free paintings on the face and hand.
Elaine got apple, both for the painting and balloon~

Shine had four-leaf clover~

Japan's booth- doll in Japanese traditional costume, representable of Japan.

Brazilian meat pie^^~
Wrapped nicely within this crispy meat pie was hot, sizzling beef.
Africa's booth- they spoke fluent Korean!
The food they were preparing was somewhat like roti canai~^^
Mongolia's booth- it was a hat made by fur!
Initially was misunderstood as some animal curling itself up~
Shine bought a drink at the Spanish booth.
It was called the mixed fruit drink, and it tasted like the mixture of apple and orange sparkling juice~
Photo with the pretty Spanish girl who made the drink~

There were a lot of booths, and turned out that the food was not for free.
Nonetheless, we still enjoyed ourselves very much, munching on the food we bought ;)

Wrapped up with a picture of the beautiful scenery in Naru Park~
Ended up it was the difference that brought all of us together in one event.
Apparently we were too stunned by the cultural differences, that food was no longer the priority ;)
Eventually, the ultimate motivation was the differences- differences in culture, in food, in traditional costumes that persuaded us to explore, and cherish~

XOXO~^^

Continuation~~더음요

Continuation~~~

On the 2nd day of Cheusok, we~ Malaysians, Cambodians and a few of our korean buddies went travelling around the small city of Busan. So, after the morning snacks and candies, and a bit of mushroom wine (all except for Iza) we headed of onto the next shuttle outta here ( the UNI) to the small town of Sasang.

Can't help but to take a group pic while waiting for the bus ^^
Group Photo infront of the bus stop to Jagalchi Fish Market and Busan International Film Festival (PIFF)

The buses here are mad. MAD!!! They drivers drift the load of bus on the road and make jerky stops every no and then. If thats not bad enough, there weren't many seats on the bus. Perhaps only about 12 seats and thats it. So we stood most of our way there. And some of us were nauseated by the time we arrived.

First stop. PIFF

3rd Day - Lotte Giants Fighting!!!
